Be Your Own Career Coach

<

We all are great at giving advice to each other. However, we tend to listen to our own advice less. Why is that so? If we are acting like psycho therapist for our friends and families so than why can’t we act the same for ourselves and stop relying on others to give us advice. Your advice given to yourself cannot benefit anyone else as much as it can for you. So stop wasting your mind and words trying to steer others on to your track. Instead spend time and energy in listening to your voice, and trying to practice the right advice for yourself. Career Coaching

Listening to your own voice helps you a great deal while surfing through the phase of job and career walks. You tend to rely heavily on other’s advice when it comes to anything, and I mean anything in the working environment. You are so prone to listening to others and deafening your own voice that instead of acting like you would you start acting like other would in that situation.

This is a big NO NO for you. Your charm remains only while you are yourself and exhibit yourself while facing problems. While waiting in the line for my interview I was gambling with the decision to whether shake hands with the interview panel or not. I strongly though that since I am not in my home country, but at the same time was hesitant that was I going against my beliefs and culture.

Shaking hands back home is regarded as a ‘sin’ for a strange man having a physical contact is taken as shameful action. But then I thought I am not back home and not shaking hands would be regarded as an insult and a display of lack of manners and etiquettes. I stopped second questioning myself at that moment since I had been battling my mind and heart at it and could hear my heart’s pace quickening which almost resulted in missing my call for the interview.

I stepped inside and without any doubts for my actions reached out to the already directed hand and shook it firmly. At that very moment I felt a gush of pride and change since I felt no regret in performing the right decision. The instant reaction was a warm welcome and a shocking smile since they didn’t expect a female wearing a head scarf would consider shaking hands.

The surprise was that because of this gesture I was the one appointed to the job out the 30 candidates who had been short-listed. It might have showed them my degree of flexibility, adaptability and willingness to change which had impressed them to such a deal they couldn’t resist in employing me.

I listened to my mind and heart, I listened to my advice. Instead of leaning back and asking the person behind me whether it was a good idea I tried my hands on solving the matter. I think I did quite well in listening and proactively acting upon it. Because of this positive reinforcement I take my own advice more and rely less on others which has made me confident and trustworthy enough that I have the power to decide the right for myself.

By hearing your own voice it gives an opportunity to enhance your own capabilities of deciding and abilities of making the right choice. Talk to yourself often, to many it may sound that you have driven yourself to madness but talking to yourself can sometimes leave some of its magic which makes you more independent and self-reliance to handle toughest matters.

And so the phrase, ‘Preach what you practice’, stands with the relevance that before you lend your mouth into someone’s exaggerated problem lend it to yourself and your problems first. Above all your instincts best fit yourself when deciding for major issues and solving problems. Therefore, being able to ask for specific actions in accordance to your advice can result for specific behavior and response.

Everyone requires someone or the other to enhance their career skills and skills to tackle interviews and job hunts. For this people hire and refer to career coaches who work on their abilities, personalities, attitudes and many other elements to make them more presentable and adaptability to their working environment. But why is there a need to hire a career coach when you yourself can be one.

Try it out, be your own coach for a day or two and see how it goes. Everyone has a coach, an advisor in themselves who can enhance their own skills sitting at home.  If you have the capabilities to provide advice and clear insight to others than you can use that same advice technique for yourself. It is best to develop your inner coach and to do so following are four tips on how to do it:

Imagine Yourself A Coach

Talk to you, stand in front of the mirror no matter how corny this may sound but it will bring fruitful results. Act like a coach and look at yourself, start giving advice to yourself by introducing the problem and then acting like you were giving advice to someone else regarding the solution of that problem.

Question To Yourself

While conducting your duties and activities, there are times where you may fall into a pit which may result in difficulties. Start from there by asking questions on how to solve this problem, instead of taking the easy road to this problem, try answering its difficulties by you. Once again listen to your voice.

Pretend to give advice to someone

As mentioned earlier while practicing being your own coach act as if you are giving advice to someone. So if you find yourself talking to your mind that isn’t the sign to go to the mental hospital and get a checkup. That is your inner voice talking to you, giving you suggestions. So talk to your mind as if you were talking to someone else.

Believe You Can Do Positive In Life

This is essential since it is the motivator factor to move ahead and continue battling. You need to believe that you are capable of drawing up a change. If you won’t believe in yourself, how will you mentor or coach yourself to the ultimate goal?

These are merely some tips offered to you in order to get you started on listening to your own advice. But explore other tips and get help for listening to your own voice. It results in development of your abilities and reduces dependence upon others.
